This is what the contemporary newspaper, the Pesti Hírlap wrote about him: "As soon as he took the conductor's baton in his hands, the orchestra, the singers, the entire stage apparatus, all at once transformed into a wax-like, flammable material: and he ruled over them with a princely sovereignty." And this person was none other than Richard Strauss, whose E-flat major Horn Concerto No. 2 will also be performed at the Szabolcs Symphony Orchestra's concert in Nyíregyháza on 18 January, together with two Beethoven compositions.
