GREAT EMOTIONS FOR SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Kecskemét Symphony Orchestra, under the auspices of the Hírös Agóra Cultural Center in Kecskemét, invites audiences on a poignant musical journey. The concert opens with Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Overture, a light, magical piece that immerses listeners in fairy-tale and fantasy worlds, making them feel part of an enchanted forest story. Mendelssohn composed it at just seventeen, introducing a distinctive musical language and expressive style. Next comes Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, a deeply emotional work filled with melancholy, longing, and passion—a spirited dialogue between piano and orchestra that captures the full spectrum of human feeling. Before the orchestra joins, a series of eight measures of rich piano chords, resembling bells, leads into the main “do–re–do” theme. The evening’s soloist is Kecskemét-born pianist Balázs Fülei. After the interval, the program features Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, renowned for its dramatic intensity and central theme of fate. As Tchaikovsky noted, “The introduction is the seed of the whole symphony: this is fate. That fateful force which prevents the pursuit of happiness from reaching its goal; which jealously ensures that peace and happiness can never be complete or cloudless.” We warmly invite you to experience this emotional and musical journey!
